Do you require a keynote speaker?

At Herts is Ready for Winners we help facilitate speakers for events with an Olympic flavour, there are a number of ways with which we can help.

Firstly we recommend you find out if there are any local connections in your community, be it business, school or club which could provide a useful contact - for example a school in Harpenden had Larry Achike (triple jump) attend because he lives locally and knows one of the Governors personally. It way be worth asking the question in case there are any personal connections.

The events we run usually demand an Olympian/Paralympian presenter that comes at a cost; we don't have any personal contacts of local sporting stars that make appearances free-of-charge. We've booked several with different backgrounds and inspirational stories to some of our events such as business breakfasts and cultural activities. They are always engaging and entertaining presentations and are always happy to chat to the audience and bring their Olympic/Paralympic medals. If you are interested in booking an Olympian/Paralympian please contact us as we can negotiate favourable rates for you, these are usually around the £500 mark.

Another option available is the Hertfordshire Talented Athlete Scheme; we regularly raise money for the scheme run by the University of Hertfordshire. These are a selected group of young athletes in several sports who have demonstrated the ability, passion and commitment to reaching their full potential in their sport and could well be the stars of the future. You may wish to ask for one or two of these to be at the event, in exchange for a donation to the programme. Please be aware before you decide to book, these are young athletes and would only be comfortable in a question and answer session format due to their age and past experience. Please contact us directly if you wish to book a local talented young athlete.

In our role we've had the opportunity to meet with senior people from sporting federations and venues such as from the new Lee Valley White Water Centre, host of the London 2012 Canoe Slalom event. You may also wish to ask someone from such a background, perhaps for a small fee or payment towards expenses.

Last but not least, as someone who was involved in the London 2012 bid and a passionate supporter of the Olympic/Paralympic Games and the legacy it can bring to Hertfordshire, John Fuller, the Herts 2012 Ambassador, could be a possibility depending on his availability. Perhaps small contribution to the Herts Talented Athletes Programme for his time would be welcome.
