Education

Our education mission statement is to encourage all schools in Hertfordshire to fully participate in the Get Set programme, by identifying and supporting good practice by schools and offering opportunities to those schools who are actively promoting the Olympic and Paralympic legacy in the curriculum.

Get Set

New website! New resources!

www.getset.co.uk

Get Set is the official London 2012 education programme for schools, college and local authority education providers across the UK. It is now being managed by the British Olympic Association to ensure that the Olympic and Paralympic legacy is supported in schools and colleges.

The Get Set website offers a huge range of opportunities and resources targeted at 3-19 year olds.

You’ll find a whole range of flexible, interactive learning resources designed to get you thinking about the Olympic and Paralympic Values and celebrating the London 2012 Games – with games, fact sheets, films, news articles and much more.

Local Opportunities - the Hertfordshire 'Education Pledge'

We aim to support schools to deliver the Olympic and Paralympic legacy for children and young people. We are currently working with our partners, other organisations, and local Olympic and Paralympic athletes to provide opportunities and rewards to schools that are actively promoting the legacy.

Previous opportunities for schools have included:

  • Free London 2012 tickets as part of the ‘Ticketshare’ scheme
  • Free rafting experiences at the Lee Valley White Water Centre, the Olympic Canoe Slalom venue in Hertfordshire
  • Inviting Olympic and Paralympic athletes to visit schools in the lead-up to the Games when they arrived in Hertfordshire for pre-Games training

Please get in touch if you are celebrating the Games in your school!
