We are the county's official partnership, set up in 2006, supporting the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) in the delivery of a successful London 2012 Games and securing a lasting legacy for the county.  We are your local contact for all things related to London 2012.

Our Ambitions:

  1. Healthier and closer communities through increased participation in sport, competition, cultural events and volunteering
  2. Increased opportunities for young people through education and the growth of a countywide talented young athletes programme
  3. A world class sports facility available to everyone which delivers a sporting and cultural legacy
  4. A stronger Hertfordshire economy and regeneration opportunities
  5. A communications framework which uses the Games to inspire and engages all those who live, work, study and visit Hertfordshire.

Our Achievements:

  • National recognition and ‘Inspire Mark’ award for our work, such as our Cultural Olympiad ‘Love to…’ and Get Set programmes
  • Held 13 award winning Business Breakfast events
  • Raised £4,500 for our Hertfordshire Talented Athlete Programme and HCC has contributed £65,000
  • Recognition by London 2012 as a proactive county partnership
  • Secured agreement with National Olympic Committees the British Virgin Islands, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis and St Vincent and the Grenadines to use our 17 approved Pre-Games Training Camps
  • Consistently high levels of registration (8.1%) for CompeteFor, the procurement system for the Olympic Games
  • Regular delivery of presentations to local businesses, schools and more with organised trips to view developments at the Lee Valley White Water Centre and the Olympic Park
  • A Herts 2012 team to deliver the ambitions to help to deliver the five agreed ambitions for Hertfordshire’s communities.
