Lee Valley White Water Centre

In 2012 Hertfordshire will be hosting the canoe slalom event at the Lee Valley White Water Centre as part of the world's biggest sporting event - the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

  • Four days of competition
  • Four gold medals
  • 300m long course
  • 82 competing athletes
  • Ticket prices for the Games start from £20 with prices for the final costing between £35 and £150. There are also special price rates for young people and seniors.

A world class sports facility available to everyone which delivers a sporting and cultural legacy is one of the partnership's ambitions.  Lee Valley White Water Centre is the only brand new London 2012 venue to open to the public ahead of the Games; visitors can now get their adrenalin fix rafting and canoeing the rapids on the courses ahead of the Olympians.

The centre, owned and managed by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, will be the best centre of its type anywhere in the world – guaranteed white water with two separate courses, creating a brand new rafting attraction.  Lee Valley White Water Centre opens in April 2011 and has two separate courses - a 300m competition-standard course and a 160m training course, perfect for sports development.

The centre is one of four London 2012 venues Lee Valley Regional Park Authority will run after the Games- Lee Valley VeloPark and Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centres in Olympic Park. These will join the other regional sports venues the Authority owns to create a chain of sporting excellence along the 26 mile long, 10,000 acre Lee Valley Regional Park.

“White water rafting is great fun, an unforgettable day out and a wonderful way for people to enjoy this world class venue,” said Shaun Dawson, chief executive of Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, which now runs the centre.

“People are snapping up tickets and gift vouchers for their unique chance to say that they rafted the same rapids before the best athletes in the world arrive for the London 2012 Games.”

As well as the best rafting in the country, Lee Valley White Water Centre will provide canoeing sports development opportunities for clubs, colleges, universities, schools and community groups.

The White Water Centre is opens to the public and tickets are available now!
