Today (Thursday 8 September) marks International Paralympic Day. To mark the occasion a group of elite athletes have gathered in Trafalgar Square to showcase their skills.
Athletes from all 20 Paralympic sports will be taking part in demonstrations, including a world record attempt in sitting volleyball. There will also be information tours to help people find out more about the various sports making up next year’s event.
The event aims to improve public awareness and interest in Paralympic sport, and comes just a day before the first Paralympic tickets go on sale.
Ticket applications open tomorrow (Friday 9 September) for a two and a half week period until Monday 26 September. For a full schedule and prices for Paralympic tickets click here.
There are group tickets of up to 50 people available for certain events and under 16s can get a ticket to most events for just £5. General day passes are also available for the Olympic Park so holders can watch a variety of events throughout the day.
