The last few remaining places are available for the free ‘Win Business Gold’ business breakfast on Friday 9 September at the Cheshunt Marriott Hotel.
The event is the latest in an award winning series of events arranged by Hertfordshire is Ready for Winners, the county’s official partnership supporting the delivery of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Business Breakfast event enables delegates to enjoy a cooked breakfast, hear about London 2012 contract opportunities, meet a Paralympic medallist and local young talented athletes, find out about Hertfordshire’s Olympic venue - the Lee Valley White Water Centre, and network with other local business people.
Paralympian Giles Long MBE, who overcame cancer as a child to compete at the highest level of his chosen sport for 12 years, combined with other speakers will be inspiring local businesses to get themselves ready for the London 2012 Games. Long is one of the most successful and well-respected Paralympian swimmers of our time winning three gold, two silver and two bronze medals over three Paralympic Games.
Broxbourne is a host borough for the London 2012 Games with the canoe slalom event taking place in Waltham Cross over five days in July next summer.
This ‘Win Business Gold’ event aims, with the help of experts from Deloitte, to encourage businesses in and around the venue to be prepared for this period next summer, to plan accordingly and to make the most of the opportunity.
Firms in Broxbourne have already won Olympic contracts as suppliers and service providers and this event, which allows other local firms to learn about London 2012’s procurement system (CompeteFor) and how they might win contracts from Business Link experts, aims to inspire others to do the same.
Derrick Ashley, Hertfordshire County Council’s Executive Member for Planning and Chairman of the Hertfordshire is Ready for Winners Board, said: “Our county has maintained the accolade of the highest percentage of businesses registered on CompeteFor in the region, we are proud of this and want to keep up the level of engagement. This is an opportunity not to be missed for businesses so close to Hertfordshire’s Olympic venue with advice on how to be prepared for the Games as well as details of the contracts that are still available.”
The partnership’s last event, at Van Hage Garden and Leisure Centre in Great Amwell, attracted over 50 delegates. One attendee said they were “inspired to act now” while another stated that the content had, “given [them] lots of things to address in [their] business”.
These free events are very popular so businesses are advised to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
