Pre Games Training Camps

Over 600 facilities across the UK are approved pre-games training camps for Olympic and Paralympic teams. Hertfordshire has 17 training camps, which offer wide ranging sports facilities from athletics to gymnastics and fencing to wrestling. Olympic and Paralympic Committees from around the world are currently deciding where to train before the London 2012 Games.

Each Olympic Committee is offered up to £25,000 to spend on training camps in the UK to give their athletes the best opportunity to train, prepare and experience what the country has to offer before the Games in 2012.

The Caribbean nations of the British Virgin Islands, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines and St Kitts & Nevis will live locally and train in county training camps during the build up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.  The British Virgin Islands were the first to commit in June 2009, with St Lucia and St Kitts and Nevis signing up in October 2010.

More information about Pre-Games Training Camps is available on the Official Pre-Games Training Camp website for London 2012.
