On Thursday 3rd March, the Turnford Olympic Sports Club took part in a task, which involved creating their own sports activity. Two members of the Herts is Ready for Winners team took a workshop and presented on the Olympics in 2012.
The students were split into five different groups, consisting of one or two students from each year. In the groups the students were asked to create a sports day event involving any of the sports from the Olympics and Paralympics.
The events were based on the Olympic and Paralympic values:
All the teams produce imaginative and unique ideas, however, only one group could win the task, with a London 2012 pin badge up for grabs.
The winning team created an event that taught Olympic and Paralympic sports to two different primary schools, and based their idea on the value of friendship. The team felt that primary school children were not as aware of the Olympics and Paralympics as secondary students, and felt it was right to give them a chance to be involved in a big event.
