Volunteering

Get Involved - Be Inspired

We want to ensure that everyone in Hertfordshire who has been inspired to volunteer by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games has the opportunity to do so, either at the Games or in their local community.

In Your Local Community…

Hertfordshire is Ready for Winners Volunteering Scheme

As part of the partnership’s commitment to closer and healthier communities we have developed a volunteering scheme that enables the local communities of Hertfordshire to embrace the magic of London 2012 and organise events and activities that will involve volunteers.

The scheme that is being rolled out through the Hertfordshire Volunteer Centres will also develop a bank of 2012 inspired volunteers who can be deployed across the county during Games-time and in activities and events inspired by London 2012.

If you are interested in the Herts is Ready for Winners Volunteer Scheme contact your local Volunteer Centre or click here.

Sport Makers

The Sport Makers programme, funded by the National Lottery, aims to recruit tens of thousands of new sports volunteers aged 16 and over to organise and lead community sport activities across the country. Everyone who chooses to become a Sport Maker will be invited by their county sports partnership to come to a workshop and support them to find local opportunities to increase participation in sport.

Other local opportunities

There is a vast array of opportunities to volunteer in your local community. To find out what you can do locally check out the Do-it website.

For further information and guidance on local volunteering opportunities, the network of Volunteer Centres in Hertfordshire provide valuable support to volunteers and organisations.

If you are aged between 16 and 25 there are some great volunteering opportunities and rewards on the vinspired website.

For information on how you can volunteer at Hertfordshire's Olympic Venue the Lee Valley White Water Centre vist Lee Valley Regional Park Authority's website here.

How will your organisation benefit from the 2012 Games?

Excitement from the 2012 Games is expected to bring an increase in number and diversity of volunteers in the local community, and organisations can benefit from this legacy by creating or increasing volunteering opportunities inspired by London 2012.

Hertfordshire Volunteer Centres can offer guidance to organisations wishing to create Games-inspired volunteering opportunities, and further details can be found here .
